There are a number of beautiful rivers to suit all ability levels within an hours’ drive from the Corran ferry. The location of a river trip will depend on water levels and experience. Although we will probably spend no more than three hours on the water, this will be a full day trip to include travelling from and returning to Strontian.
We will take you on a guided canoe trip down a beautiful river within an easy drive of the Corran Ferry in one of our Hou Prospector canoes. These are stable canoes for 1 or two people on moving water. We provide all the essentials for you to enjoy the experience and to keep you comfortable.
Colin or Katrina will meet you at the Sunart Camping site’s “Bothy”, unless we have agreed to meet elsewhere, where you will be provided with all the essential equipment for this trip. Most of the time, canoeing is a dry pastime but occasionally it rains or people fall in. This is nothing to worry about but please make sure that you have with you the warm clothing described on our kit list.
The total time required for this trip, including travel from and returning to Strontian will be around 6 to 7 hours although you may only actually be in a canoe for up to 3 hours.
This trip is not appropriate for very young children. We recommend a minimum age of 10 for this trip.
You will need to bring your own food and drink, or ask us in advance and we can arrange for a good quality packed lunch to be provided by the Ariundle Centre for an additional cost.
Canoeing is a fantastic, healthy, experience which requires physical participation. Sometimes your help will be needed with moving canoes. Please let us know if you have any medical issues prior to the trip.
